The mist has come down. I walked to the end of the pier and where I usually see hills and villages on the other side of the loch, over to the Paps of Jura, tonight there is…nothing. I imagine this is what it would feel like to be at sea with no sight of land for days. It’s a bit spooky.
Unsettling in a way, yet also soothing.
I found it quite unsettling looking into it, and feeling that there wasn’t an end to it (despite knowing what was on the other side of the loch) – really quite a strange sensation.
Spooky but beautiful.
Thank you for taking the time to comment. It really was spooky staring into nothing-ness.
I’ve sailed to the Faroes a decade ago, we didn’t see land for a few days. It was a slightly strange feeling, nothing but water around, even on clear days.
Thanks for taking the time to comment, Armin. I imagine it to be quite unsettling. Hopefully one day I’ll get the chance to go to sea (and visiting the Faroes wouldn’t be too bad, either).
